This Crazy Web
Searching the web for the craziest content - so you don’t have to!
Back in Oct of '08, I wrote a post called Flickr + Google = Naughty detailing some weird, naughty behavior from Google's search results. Essentially, the results for "Flickr" came up with a sub-menu with the word "Search" linking to a Flickr search for "upskirt".
The first comment questioned my love of porn.
I responded by pointing out that there is a stark difference between porn and Flickr porn. For an example, I linked to a picture by Morticia1963 who's pictures were included in the aforementioned "upskirt" search.
Skip ahead to Aug '09 (yesterday) and I receive this message through Flickr...
"I have today sent a notice to flickr with regard your link to a photo in my stream on a blogging site.
I want this any links removed to anything from my stream as all the photos are not to be used without my express permission and as you will never gain this I want it to be removed or I will take further action."
and then a second message...
"I will sue you for defamination if you do not delete the pages where you have put nasty comments about myself.
I will report you to google and yahoo to have them stop you in your tracks."
I ignored both because...
- Linking to public photos on Flickr is allowed by Flickr, Yahoo! (their parent company), US law and British law (where Morticia lives).
- Defamation (or "defamination" as she spells it) is defined as a claim that is false and that the publication is communicated to someone other than the person defamed. There were no false claims. In fact, there were no claims at all.
- Threatening to "report me" to Google and Yahoo! is an empty threat because neither companies control the content of this site.
So today, I get another message stating that, because I tweeted about her threats, "it is tantamount to stalking" and I should stop.
Fortunately, people around the 'webz are watching out for my best interests and pointed out that she's been tweeting about me...
-
Morticia1963: I am being stalked and harassed by someone called Gorillasushi. He is making me very scared with his behaviour and I wish he would stop.
-
Morticia1963: I guess though the real reason he looks at porn is probably because his wife does actually look like a gorilla! LOL!
-
Morticia1963: Found some evil little prick called Gorillasushi who puts illegal links to your photos then gets people to insult you.
You can view them yourself through Twitter's search only since her stream is private. So now she's accusing me of stalking, saying my wife looks like a gorilla, calling me an evil prick and claiming my actions are illegal. All false claims and all libelous defamation.
I'm only writing this post because she's blocked me on Flickr so I can not send her a reply and because her husband is now sending me threatening emails. Hopefully this post will stop their harassment.
