Motola, a female elephant who was badly injured after stepping on a land mine 10 years ago finally got an artificial leg and she can walk. The injury of this Thai elephant provoked international interest, sympathy and donations.
On Sunday a miracle has happened – Motola stepped out with a new leg. According to people, she is afraid of long walks right now and also Motala doesn’t put her whole weight on a leg it yet but she’s OK.
The amputee elephant was injured in 1999 while hitting the mine. Motola has been wearing a special device for 3 years. It’s main aim was to prepare her leg muscles and tendons for the permanent prosthesis.
The artificial leg was made by the Prostheses Foundation, and this organizations also makes artificial limbs for human amputees.
Hope everything will be fine with Motola!
